Metairie, L.a. (WGNO) -- After the 48-0 Archbishop Rummel High School shut out over Covington High School, Rummel Coach Jay Roth told his team, 'we're not there yet'. He said he's happy with the decisive win, but he's not satisfied.
"With just what we have upcoming, with our district, we're going to have to be perfect. We play Jesuit, Brother Martin, Curtis," said Roth.
The Raiders were just about perfect in the first quarter. They started off quick with three unanswered touchdowns. Nicholls State Commit Quarterback Chase Fourcade finished 11 of 19 for nearly 260 total yards.
"It says a lot but we're not there yet. It's only Week 2. We got a bunch of weeks left, but we're coming together as one on offense," said Fourcade.
Fourcade came together with many weapons including Israel Tucker, Maurice Bailey, and David Hensley. Hensley finished the bout with 9 catches for just over 190 yards and 3 touchdowns.
"Just basically finding the holes in the defense. They were playing simple cover threes, so we just found the holes. Shout out to my offensive line for protecting for Chase, and Chase throwing the ball to me," said Hensley.
Rummel's defense also executed. They shut down the run to force three and outs and they had an interception.
But Rummel's mindset is there's always room for improvement.
"We still have more work to do, we have a lot more work to do. We have to get better because it's going to get harder and harder every week," said Hensley.
"When you stop getting better, you stop getting good. So we have to continue getting better," said Coach Roth.
